Economic Forum St.-Petersburg
On the International economic forum which opens today in St.-Petersburg, assign high hopes.
Organizers have invited to a forum more than 2 thousand participants, among which representatives of political elite and heads of the largest corporations, such as Exxon Mobile, Gazprom, TNK-BP, ОНЭКСИМ.
But, as Russian service of BBC transfers, because of crisis, not all the participants declared in the program, can arrive to St.-Petersburg.
Still one year ago, when the economic crisis has already mentioned the United States and the countries of Europe, businessmen still continued to name Russia “smooth water”. The government made long-term plans concerning a new role of Russia in the world. And in the speech at an economic forum president Medvedev has declared: «we were tired of waiting new bright victories: both in economy, and in technologies, and in social development».
The program of a forum has political colouring more likely and urged to make impression upon world political leaders who, however, are presented at a forum only by the president of Philippines Gloria Makapagal Arojo, the ex-prime minister of Japan Dzjunitiro Koidzumi and the former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder.
Participants of a forum will give special attention to a theme of reserve currency. Conversations that the dollar in this quality requires alternative, sound recently even more often. So, several weeks ago representatives of China and Brazil, discussed possibility of use of national currencies instead of dollar in trading operations.
The most interesting as usually, will occur in a lobby where it will be possible to talk about become painful with heads of the largest corporations or even to ask questions to representatives of the Russian power.
As a whole from 13th economic forum in St.-Petersburg to its beginning even not most superstitious experts and analysts good do not wait for anything. The participants who have arrived on a forum, apparently, will leave and without the anti-recessionary recipe, and without hopes of new rules of business dealing in Russia.
